Bamboo - Not The Same As Grass

In fact, contrary to popular conception that bamboo plants are the same as grass and thus can easily be grown, you could not be farther from the truth and thus need to realize that these plants are in fact highly evolved plants. What’s more, the way that bamboo plants bloom are also different with some plants blooming in a single year while others would bloom once in hundred years. Best of all, is the fact that supposedly, you can even watch bamboo plants grow because they are known to grow by as much as a foot in a single day.

Actually, growing bamboo plants is fun for both amateur and professional gardeners and some of these plants are even available in colors other than their usual yellow and gold colors with their stems also being colored burgundy or blue as well as a few other shades. When looking for bamboo plants, the first place that you should look is of course, in a nursery, or you may even want to search the Internet to find which types of bamboo plants can be grown in your area, and once you find a suitable plant, make sure that it is properly acclimated to day as well as night temperatures in your part of the world as well as the soil type you will be using to grow them in.

Caring for bamboo plants is however, not difficult because it is by nature a hardy kind of plant though you still must follow a few simple rules such as positioning them in such a way that they get plenty of sunshine, which is essential for their proper growth. Also, you need to ensure that you don’t give them too much of water as that can cause the plants to turn yellow in color and also die off.

However, you can still use the same type of fertilizer for your bamboo plants as you would when growing grass and you may also want to consider staking the plants to give them support because they grow very fast and may also be too thin to support them on their own. Finally, you can trim away leaves that have dried out or have become yellow in color as that will make your plant more appealing to the eye as well as ensures it stays healthy.
